This was the last of the trees I painted on my little residency at Hewnoaks. It was a really crazy looking thing, like the branches were exploding out of the trunk. I probably failed to capture that but it was really dramatic. Way high above me, like 90
At Hewnoaks I tried painting a single tree from below. It was like figure painting and surprisingly a struggle. I also don't think I did justice to how enormous these trees are.
This is the second painting I did in Lovell at Hewnoaks. The clouds were reflecting off the lake with the mountains over in New Hampshire in the distance.
This is a month or so overdue. I spent a week in Lovell at the Hewnoaks Artist Colony and this is the first painting I did. The pine trees were all over 100 feet tall. Quite an amazing spot and opportunity for me. I had a great time.
